Independent hip hop artist and producer, Kota the Friend, from Clinton Hill, announced his headlining tour this fall – Kota the Friend Presents: Flowers For My Friends Tour. Produced by Live Nation, the 22-date run kicks off on Friday, October 20th and will make stops throughout the U.S. and Canada, including Atlanta, Los Angeles, Vancouver, and more, before wrapping up shortly after Thanksgiving on Saturday, November 25 in Kota’s hometown, New York at Irving Plaza.
When asked about the tour name, Kota stated, “my new album Protea is all about giving flowers to the people that hold you down. I haven’t been on a nationwide tour since 2019 so I see this tour as an appreciation tour for my supporters.”
The tour affirms Kota’s staying power as one of the most successful independent artists in today’s rap landscape. The tour announcement comes on the heels of Kota’s critically-acclaimed album, PROTEA, released June 30, 2023 via FLTBYS Music and Entertainment LLC & Venice Music. Spanning 16 tracks, the project received rave reviews from publications such as XXL, Wonderland, VIBE, and UPROXX to name a few. The latter dubbing PROTEA, “a break from the routines, it’s the splash of sunshine cascading through the window to remind us that there is more beyond the office, the struggle, the anxiety and depression of our modern times.”
Kota, who has a massive catalog of music, of which he owns all his masters and publishing, stated that he will be performing a number of his fan favorites from his various albums, including EVERTYHING, FOTO, Lyrics to Go Volumes 1 through 4, MEMO and PROTEA.
