Celebrated independent hip hop talent Kota the Friend is back on tour, performing his renowned No Rap on Sunday album across the nation. The No Rap on Sunday Tour starts Thursday, August 28 in Tampa, Florida, and wraps up with a much-anticipated show in Brooklyn, New York on October 16—Kota’s very own birthday.
Beyond the Album: Kota’s Vision
Kota treats each record as a movement, not just an LP. No Rap on Sunday is more than an album—it’s a tour, custom merch, and a creative concept made for fans. Early access was offered to his community via the EVEN platform, deepening his relationship with listeners and reinforcing Kota’s inventive approach in the indie rap world.
As Kota told NYC Newswire: “For me, music is about forging connections. That’s why I wanted to start No Rap on Sunday with an exclusive drop and continue with a tour designed for my listeners.”
Championing Indie Artists: Verse Challenge
Reflecting his passion for community, Kota rolled out the No Rap on Sunday Verse Challenge. Independent artists nation-wide could add their verse to the title track. Winners in selected cities are invited to perform as openers on the tour and also gain an exclusive chance: a feature from Kota on their next release.
“This is my way to help bring attention to the next wave of independent talent,” Kota said to NYC Newswire. “Supporting emerging artists is key, and I’m hyped to collaborate with the winners on a new song.”
Initiatives like this continue to define Kota’s efforts to support new and independent artists.
