The Washington Hall Park basketball and handball courts have been under renovation since September 2022, with an initial completion date of May 2022. The $1,401,000 in funding was provided by the mayor’s office. The renovations only include the basketball and handball courts.
The original start date for this project was October 2018, with a completion date of October 2019, but due to COVID the project was delayed.
Washington Hall Park basketball courts had been used for weekend basketball tournaments sponsored by Nike, but it is unclear if Nike will bring its tournaments back to the park.
The courts are near completion now, with an estimated completion date of September 2023. However, the playground portion of the park is in desperate need of repair. The rubber mats are all buckled, creating a hazard for children while walking or running in the playground. We will find out if there are any plans to renovate the playground area.
